I love the out doors, the beach, mother nature in general. I believe that we all have an energy that is unique to only us as individuals. I believe in continuing the story. Preserving nature and or helping where I can. I know that there is a magic bestowed on everything including the lettuce I grow in my greenhouse. There is something primal in my belief system and I stay true to that. I neither trust or partake in organized religion, but have a strong faith in my creator and something greater than all things combined. I believe that as a person I must spread a positive energy to those deserving of it.

I am Wampanoag Indian

Every year about this time...without fail, I have a yearning to go home. I hear it like a call for days on end and weeks until I have made my journey back to Cape Cod and the Island of Marthas Vinyard. I can hear the voices like a melody in my head as I sleep of Past Wampanoag indians Like my Uncle Milton Jeffers, Ceceilia Rubinnacci and my great grandmother who past away on my birthday. Bertha S. Blaine Jeffers is someone I never met but feel a strong connection to as if she is a guardian angel. To understand all this you have to be or think like and indian.

There is something sharply New and I had only spoken about this on a few rare occassions with my Uncle Milt. He looked at me when I was very young, and told me about people who had two spirits. He believed that I was one of those people and that I would have a better understanding of it as I get older. My uncle milt knew that I was gay and very excepting of that fact. Un-known to the rest of my family, I was loved just the way I was born by an indian man, with no judgement. This is why he holds a very special place in my heart. I honor him weekly in thoughts with out fail.

I hope this may bring a little more insights into your life on just who is this guy writing these posts on The Male Martha!

I hope that this may bring understanding to you as to the "Gay Thing" that has been around alot longer than you think. It may also show you that American Indians have delt with this issue long ago! It wasn't a big deal then and it certainly isn't a big deal now!

Those of you voting this November in MAINE and New Jersey. Think! Just think!

Later Darling!

oxoxo

Dan Viger

The Male Martha!

It's that time! Finally time to start selling the eggs and have the girls earn thier keep! The chickens Richard & I keep are treated with kindness and love that some people don't even show thier own children. They are fed fresh organic material and watered daily with some of the best tasting well water!

I have to say that when we started raising chickens a few years ago, it just wasn't as popular as it is today! I think people found out just how easy it is to keep chickens and what a joy it is to get fresh eggs every morning!

Once you start cooking with fresh eggs..You immediately notice a difference not only in taste but how your end product turns out! Fluffy and light are just a few words to describe what you cook with fresh eggs.

So here we have decided to sell our eggs! To share them with the world for a whopping two dollars!! WOW!

I have been to places that sell thier eggs for five and six dollars! If you pay that for eggs.. Unless they are faberge eggs, never pay that!

Two dollars is plenty for a dozen eggs!

With just an artfully hand painted sign on the end of the driveway..we sell our eggs, by honor system. We believe that people are inherintly good, and most people are honest in our town!

Just a few things you need to know before you go off selling your own eggs. Make sure that if you live in florida or some other southern states that you look up the department of agriculture about sales permits for small flocks. In most cases you do not need a permit.

Make sure the eggs are clean and make sure that you keep them cool. It is cooler than a refrigerator outside where we live..so our problem is making sure that they don't actually freeze.

It really is that easy.. to do a bit of supplimental income..... My uncle used to buy a trip for two to Florida every year on what he sold for eggs... at the rate things are today.. maybe we can afford a jaunt to vermont.....

Later Darling!!

oxoxox

Dan Viger

The Male martha!

Heat it to a rolling boil over medium heat. Stir frequently with a wooden spoon to prevent sticking.

2.Meanwhile, squeeze the lemon juice.

3.When the milk boils, remove it from he heat. Immediately but slowly add the lemon juice to the milk.

4.While you add the lemon juice, gently move the wooden spoon through the hot milk in one direction. After some seconds, you should see the milk splitting into lumps of curd and watery whey. These curds are your homemade cheese.

5.Cover the pan and set aside for 2 hours. This allows the curds to settle properly. If you are in a hurry reduce the time to 30 minutes.

6.When the curds have settled, line a colander with a cheese cloth or muslin. If your cheese cloth looks very thin, cover the colander with two or more layers.

7.Place the colander in the sink, or a large bowl if you intend to collect the whey. Slowly pour the curdled milk into the colander.

8.When all the liquid is drained off, gather the corners of the cheesecloth together to form a bag. Tie this sack containing the cheese curds with a kitchen twine or any other piece of string.

9.Hang the bag with the cheese curds over the sink or a bowl to let any remaining liquid whey to drip off. A kitchen cabinet knob is generally suitable to suspend the bag with the fresh homemade cheese.

10.Leave for 3 hours, and your homemade cheese is ready for eating or refrigerating. It keeps well and appetizing in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.

Add fruits..dried or fresh and your favorite herbs before you set your cheese into a mold. Your going to be the entertaining GURU of your social circles this spring and summer!! In a few weeks we can talk about home made cheddar!

oxoxox

Dan Viger

The Male Martha!
